Japan Hokkaido 2013 Day 5

Today we will be heading back to Sapporo as we are heading home tomorrow. Thus as usual after our buffet breakfast again (oh I hate the buffet here), we board out tour bus which bring us to our 1st stop on our way to Sapporo. Our 1st stop is the factory outlet place where there are many different brands (mostly branded stuff) there. We are given around 1 and 1/2 hrs to shop, thus chop chop we begin out hunt there. I bought 3 Levis jeans which is are really cheap and a coach wallet, which have 50% discount (good price!). πŸ™‚ My wife also bought some stuff. After that we board our bus again to the Li Xiao Lu to bug some local products home. We bought lots of the famous 白い恋人 (Bai Se lian Ren) A.k.a Shiroi Koibito and boxes of Potato farm potato sticks back home. These 2 products are the must buy stuff back home. πŸ™‚ We also bought some souvenir too

Image

After that we board the bus again to the Nijio Morning Market for some fresh seafood. Yum Yum πŸ˜›

Image

Image

The Hokkaido crabs here are really big lo…. And hairy too πŸ™‚

My wife ate a really fresh and big oyster here πŸ™‚

Image

After a good tour at this market with some of them bought the really fresh scallop, we head off for our dinner. Our dinner is the Japanese hotplate. The taste is okie but oily….

After the dinner, we head to our hotel at the airport. It is very connivence as we only need to go to 1 floor below and is the check in counter. But the only bad thing about this hotel is that the window can’t be open and the room is stuffy with the heater air con. 😦

Japan Hokkaido 2013 Day 4

Today is our day 4 in Hokkaido. As usual, wake up early for our breakfast buffet. This is our day 4 and this is my 4th breakfast buffet, so I’m getting a bit sick of the food here. I did not eat much and then left the hotel for our next destination. First we went to the Ninja Village Noboribetsu Data Judaimura. This is the theme park featuring the Edo period, one of the most attractive era in Japanese history. There are traditional games, activities, theatres, street performances and more. There is a ninja maze, which is very fun and special. In the maze, we are required to walk through the maze, which is used by ninja to do their training. Some part of the maze have floor that is tilted sideway and some have the floor that will rotate or vibrate. It is very interesting….

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

The 1st show we went is the Ninja show. This is quite interesting as the old man acting in the show is very funny. They also used a lot of trap doors in the show too.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Next we went for the Oiran show. Oiran is the top-ranked courtesans at Yoshiwara, the official red light district. They are known for their excellence on arts and cultures, including their beauty. One of our tour member has been selected to do a little performance on the stage with the Oiran… We laugh throughout the whole show as he perform as he is really good at the acting and ha sa lot of funny actions. πŸ˜›

Image

Image

Image

Image

This is our tour member…. He’s funny wearing that uniform right πŸ˜›

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

After the show, we went for a little walk around this Ninja village, including the mystery walk which scare my wife a lot… hehe πŸ˜› There is a ghost house, which my wife did not dare to enter.

Image

Image

After the Ninja village. We went to the nearby restaurant for our lunch. It is quite health and nice as the food is steam in a bamboo & wooden container and dip in that special sauce which we almost want to buy back to Singapore

Image

Image

Image

Image

After lunch, we board the bus to our next destination Shiraoi Ainu Village. This place is so so only as there is nothing much to see there.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

There is a lot of wood craft sold here. So if you are interested to buy wood craft, you could look for one here. After that, we went to our next destination Jigokudani (also known as Hell Valley). It is located about the Noboribetsu, which display hot stream vents, sulphurous stream and other volcanic activities. The moment we reached there, we could smell the very strong smell of sulphur. There are beautiful walking trails through the woods and a 50 degrees Celsius sulphurous pond. There are also river with the hot water flowing, where you enjoy a natural food bath.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

After that, we board the bus again to our resort for the night in this town. This resort is a traditional resort again, which is Tatami bed again……. sianz……. Lucky the good thing is I could go for Onsen again. This time, I went in the next day early morning.

Image

Image

Image

After the usual buffet dinner, we went for a small walk around this town where we found a lot of shops which sell all kinds of stuff related to this Hell Valley. We even bought 3 bottles of flavour honey from here to bring back to Singapore. The honey is really nice, which has mango, citrus and grape flavour. πŸ™‚ We bough some souvenir from here, including a very large size rock melon pocky.

Image

Image

Image

This is where we bought our honey and honey flavour ice-cream πŸ˜›

Image

This place is really good for relaxing holiday, where you could walk down the street full of shops and have a relaxing bath the Onsen. After the walk, we went back to rest for the night. πŸ™‚

Japan Hokkaido 2013 Day 3

Woke up early again for the breakfast buffet…. The buffet was not bad. After breakfast, we went straight to the ski locker to change into our rented ski equipments…. The ski shoes are really tight. After we changed into our ski equipment, we went to the door to meet with the others, bringing our ski board. Those ski boards are really heavy…. and walking on that ski shoes really need skill and walk like a duck…… We walk all the way up the slope to the middle of the snow area to have our little ski lesson there. Walking in the think snow is not easy, as the ski shoe will sink into the now…. After a lot of effort, we manage to reach there. We divided into 2 groups, with each group lead by a ski instructor.Β Β Instructor taught us some basic steps on how to wear and take off the ski board, how to walk / ski with the ski board etc. He also taught us 2 techniques on our to stand up again after fall down, but I never able to stand up by myself without any assistant from the instructor, no matter how hard I tried… hehee….. πŸ˜›

Image

Image

Image

This is my wife in her ski equipment… Look professional ho? πŸ™‚

Image

And This is me…. My face looks as red as my jacket πŸ™‚ Just lazy to wear that goggle…

Image

Image

Image

After the ski lesson, we tried to ski down the slope by ourselves with our tour group members too. It is really fun and exciting… I almost kick someone else backside…. hahaha…. Lucky I manage to change my direction in time. But time fly really very fast, after about 1 and 1/2 hrs, we need to go back to the resort to return all our ski equipment and get really to leave this ski resort for our next destination… This place is really fun and relaxing. We will come back again next time. πŸ™‚

Okie, our next destination will be Lake Toya. Our bus drove us to the top part where we could look down to the Lake Toya. The view is really magnificent. The sky and lake is so blue….. With the white snow all around.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Next is lunch time. And our lunch will be tenpenyaki….Yeah, finally I waited for this for a very long time…. hehe… But actually it does not taste as what I expect it to be…

Image

Image

Image

After meal, we went for a small walk nearby. There is a view with a mountain where smoke could been seen coming out from that mountain…. Lucky it is not an active volcano. We took a group photo with that mountain in our background.

Image

Image

Image

Image

After that, our next destination is the bear range. There are quite a number of bears over there…. We bought some apples to feed those bears

Image

See this guy waving his hand, signalling us to throw the apple down to him… hehe… Really so cute

Image

Image

See this guy even lay on his back doing some cute action to lure us to throw those apples to him… hahaha πŸ™‚

Image

Image

This is queen of Hokkaido, the bear mama…. πŸ˜›

Image

And this is king of Hokkaido, the bear papa. Raorrrrrr…….. πŸ˜›

Image

After a while, we are ready to leave the bear range. But before that we bough a stick of hot dogs and a cup of warm milk…. πŸ™‚ Next will be the Lake Toya. And this time will be beside the lake.

Image

Image

Image

After a while, we board our bus again to our traditional resort for the night, which is located beside the Lake. πŸ™‚ This resort is really special as the room is a traditional Japan style room where we sleep on the tatami…. It is quite an experience too as it is our 1st time to sleep on tatami, but i don’t like it as I have backache the next day…. 😦 We had our 2nd Onsen here at this resort again πŸ™‚

Image

Image

We went out for a little walk around the resort since it is still early for dinner and we would like to walk along the lake.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

This is our traditional resort, looking from outside

Image

Our dinner is the buffet dinner again…… I really hate buffet dinner as there are really not many things for me to eat. And the problem of joining tour is they like to arrange all dinner to be buffet dinner at the resort restaurant……. 😦 We wear the traditional Japanese custom to our dinner. After dinner, we stay at the lobby to play the bingo game and I hit bingo and won a prize for that. The prize that I choose is a hello kitty toto bag for my wife

Japan Hokkaido 2013 Day 2

On the 2nd day, woke up early for the standard breakfast buffet… After breakfast, we take a little morning walk outside and then went back to hotel to meet up with the others to alight our tour bus. Our next destination will be Rusutsu Ski Resort. But on the way to the resort, our tour guide plan another event for us, which is riding snow jet ski up the snow mountain…. Its really fun!

Image

Image

As I’m taking photos along the way up the mountain on the snow jet ski, my wife is driving the snow jet ski…… πŸ™‚ The scenery along the way is so beautiful that made a very deep imprint on my mind forever. The air is so re-fresh and with all the pure white snow that is so soft and fine….. While on the way up the mountain, one of the snow jet ski topple to the side…. hehe. Lucky the staff manage to help them to position their snow jet ski upright again and we continue with our trip

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

After a while, we reached the top and we stop there to play on the very fine and white snow while drinking the hot milo prepared by the snow jet ski staff

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

see the rest of the guys have put aside their age and play like a kid…hahaha….. But its really fun throwing those snow balls at each others

Image

Image

After a while, its time to ride back to the base…… and time for lunch (a mini steamboat meal) πŸ™‚

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

After the lunch, our guide bring us to a place where natural spring water flows. And this natural spring water will never froze even under this cold winter. We also took some of the water in our bottle to drink along the way

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

And here we reach the point where the spring water flow

Image

Image

Image

Image

See this man bring so many big containers to contain the spring water back

Image

Image

Image

After that we alight out bus and went over to our ski resort. After checking into our room, we went to play the snow tubbing that we sit on a very big tire tube and slide down the snow slope….. It is quite fun, but is quite short as the slope is quite short

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

There she goes….. πŸ™‚

Image

Its my turn now…… And I choose the superman pose… hahaha…… In the end, I went down with backwards

Image

Image

Image

Image

And she also want to try my pose and be a wonder woman…. hehehe πŸ˜›

Image

Image

The view there is also very beautiful. Very relaxing over there

Image

Image

Image

After that, we went back to our hotel to rest.. We went for a walk around the resort for a while and then went for dinner

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

This is quite a delicious dinner and it is very full…… After dinner, we rest for a while and then went for our hot bath Onsen. The Onsen in Japan has to be full naked while in the bath area and we have to wash ourselves before enter into the hot spring water. Don’t think wrongly, the bath here is guys and ladies separated ones….. πŸ˜› This is my 1st time going to Onsen with naked body… hehe Quite an experience… Sorry no photos in the Onsen, so no photos to be shown here…. hehehe πŸ™‚ After the hot bath, we went back to our room to rest.

Japan Hokkaido 2013 Day 1

It another trip for holiday again! And this time we went to Japan for the 1st time. Japan here we come!!

On the 5th Dec night, we took a night flight and reach Hokkaido on the 6th Dec afternoon. The 1st place we visited is the Otaru Canal. This is the place where the Japan romatic movie is filmed. Β Otaru used to be the busy port in the first half of 20 century. The canal became obsolete when modern dock allow direct unloading and loading for ships. When we reached there, it is freezing cold. But we face the cold wind blowing taking photos.

Image

Image

Image

We also went to have a little walk in this beautiful area

Image

After a while, we went for our lunch as we were very very hungry after the long flight…. We had our 1st Nabe meal with BBQ Unagi. The Nabe is quite nice, but the BBQ Unagi is so so only…

Image

Image

Image

Image

After the meal, we proceed to Otaru Kitaichi glass where glass are made… This place is so so too, so we made a quick visit and we proceed to the Otau Orgel Don (music box museum). This place is beautiful and big. It has so many types of different music boxes and are all on sale. All the music boxes looks so beautiful and cute. i would like to buy 1 for friend, but got rejected by my CFO….. 😦

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

As we are about to leave this museum, it suddenly snowing outside. The view is so beautiful……

Image

Image

We ran through the snow and went pass the famous cheese cake shop LeTao. We decided to go into the shop are a light tea with a cake.

We orded a cheese cake and a strawberry cake with 2 tea. The cheese cake is so nice!! πŸ™‚ If can I bring it back to Singapore.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

As time is running out, we finish out light tea quite fast and left the cake shop. Took another photo outside as the snow is getting heavy. πŸ™‚

Image

Tern Link D8 ( New Cycling Hobby )

Recent Lin has been looking at foldable bike and really really want to get 1… So I did some research online and found out theΒ MyBikeshopΒ bicycle shop, which isΒ at midview city. So one evening (last day of cry), we went over after work. First we tried the Tern Link C7 bike, but found it not really suite us as not too comfortable. My wife tried on the Tern Swoop Duo, but found that although this bike is very easy to ride, it is much heavier and only has 2 speed. Then I tried the Dahon Speed Falco. It is very comfortable as it is made in Japan, which is made to suite asian. But the price is quite high and over our budget. Lastly we tried the Tern Link D8 and found it to be quite comfortable. As it is getting very late and the shop is closing, thus we had to come back the next day.

Thus on the next day, we went over for a lunch (Rong Cheng Bak Kut Teh)Β at the mid view city. After the meal, we went to the bike shop again and tried the Tern Link C7, Dahon Speed Falco and Tern Link D8 again. After tried all once again, we finally decided to get the Tern Link D8 ( Jack of all trade ), which is 20 inch wheel, 8 speed and weight 12.1kg . I took the white/blue and my wife took the white/pink colour. After that we drove it back home with out new toy πŸ™‚

This is how it look
