Today woke up early morning as we had book a day cruise to Great Barrier Reef online. The cruise we booked is Cruise Whitsunday. As it is really early, we skip breakfast and went down to the reception to be picked up to Abe Point to board the cruise boat. After checked in at the Abe Point, we board the boat.
The scenery here is beautiful with this sunny day. I took quite a lot of photos here using the compact canon waterproof camera.
There are some snacks and tea/coffee provided in the boat. The ride is initially quite smooth. But when the boat reached the middle of the sea, the water gets rougher. The boat keep rocking up down left right. Janice gets sea sick due to the rough water. After 2 hrs, we finally reached the ReefWorld platform where the water sports activities are located.
This is the Reef World Platform
This is the place where the snorkelling, diving, glass bottom boat cruise, sun tanning activities held.
The glass bottom boat is where all the people sits in the boat bottom and view the underwater through the glass windows without getting wet. The cruise last around 20mins. Actually there is nothing much to see in this boat as the boat only cruise a small area of the sea. Although the glass windows are quite dirty to see clearly, i was still managed to see some corals and fishes
After this, we went to tour around the Reel World platform for a while before Janice, Michael and me went for the snorkelling. There are a lot of people snorkelling over there. The water is quite cold initially when we go into it, but gets warmer after we stay in the water even its winter now. After we got the equipments and changed into wet suit, we jump into the water 🙂
There are some divers seen below the water where they are able to dive deeper into the sea with their equipment. If I want to dive too, I will need to take a crush course before I was able to dive.
This is Michael with googles 🙂
This is the big fish that I saw just now through the platform glass windows, but unable to touch it.
We snorkel for around 20mins and went back to the platform. Lunch is in the boat consists of cold chicken, salad, potato salad, pasta salad, cold prawn, bread, ham, corn salad. The food is actually not good, but still okie. After lunch, we tour around the platform before boarding the boat back to shore.
This must be that legendary turtle that they had mentioned, which we can’t find it anywhere just now. Now it is swimming at the side of the platform….
We left the the platform around 2.30pm. During our way back to shore, the water gets even more rough than before as the weather is turning bad. Although a lot of the guys on board gets dizzy and vomit, the crew on board gave them ice as they said that ice could help to prevent from feeling like vomiting. They also cheers us up by making us doing kallang wave and the boat fills with laughter. 🙂 The crews are really helpful and nice….
When the boat gets nearer to the shore, the water gets more smooth. The sun also came out again. 🙂
We reached the shore around 5 plus and took the coach back to town and went to the Woolsworth to get the groceries for dinner. After getting the groceries, we walk back to the resort, which need to climb that slope again….. 😦 After reached the resort, we cook our dinner which consists of maggie mee with hot dogs, cabbage and eggs. We also got some black label volka lime to goes with chips again. 🙂 As we are tired after a whole day activities and the sea sick, we rest early.
